Information Architecture

Revitalizing the Android Developers Website

Upon inheriting this project, we discovered that the Android Developers Website had seen minimal updates since Google's acquisition in 2005. It had evolved in an ad-hoc manner, with new elements continuously added without strategic redesign.

Our mission was to transform the website into a user-friendly, engaging platform. The primary goal was to make the site not just functional but loveable, ensuring users easily find the relevant content when they need it most.

“Andy has been unloved for too long”

The old navigation was very basic and … well it didn’t look great.

It was Google, so we put search front and centre

We focused on improving information architecture and the discoverability of content

And created a flexible design in keeping with tight brand guidelines

Much of it remains today! With a few design tweaks to keep it up to date.
