It is hosted. Atlan runs the endpoint at https://mcp.atlan.com/mcp, so there is nothing to install: you add the URL to your AI client and sign in with your Atlan account.
Do I need an API key for the Atlan MCP server?
No API key is needed for the hosted server. You sign in through Atlan's own OAuth screen, and the assistant only gets the access your account has.
