Is the Langfuse MCP server hosted, or do I run it myself?
It is hosted. Langfuse runs the endpoint at https://cloud.langfuse.com/api/public/mcp, so there is nothing to install: you add the URL to your AI client and supply an API key.
Do I need an API key for the Langfuse MCP server?
Yes. The hosted server expects an API key from your Langfuse account, sent in the Authorization header. Store it in your client's secret settings rather than pasting it into shared config files.
What can an AI assistant actually do with Langfuse?
Through this server an assistant can work with prompt management, versioning, collaboration, analytics — reading from and acting on Langfuse directly instead of you copy-pasting between windows. What you allow it to do is controlled by the permissions you grant.
