Is the Amplitude MCP server hosted, or do I run it myself?
It is hosted. Amplitude runs the endpoint at https://mcp.amplitude.com/mcp, so there is nothing to install: you add the URL to your AI client and sign in with your Amplitude account.
Do I need an API key for the Amplitude MCP server?
No API key is needed for the hosted server. You sign in through Amplitude's own OAuth screen, and the assistant only gets the access your account has.
What can an AI assistant actually do with Amplitude?
Through this server an assistant can work with charts, dashboards, experiments, metrics — reading from and acting on Amplitude directly instead of you copy-pasting between windows. What you allow it to do is controlled by the permissions you grant.
